ACLAS Holds Skills Acquisition Programe for Aclasites

The Association of Communication and Language Arts Students (ACLAS), University of Ibadan, on Wednesday held a skills acquisition programme for its students as part of activities lined up for the departmental week.

The training, which began at 9:00 a.m. at the Faculty of Arts featured four core sessions: audio editing, graphics design, photography, and portfolio/CV development. Each session was facilitated by industry professionals invited to equip students with practical, employable skills.

Audio editing was handled by Seyi Olawole, while graphics design was taught by Olanrewaju. Photography and portfolio/CV building were facilitated by Kolawole Akintomiwa and Mr. Ayoade Omolola respectively. Omolola, who serves as Strategy and Intelligence Lead at X3M Ideas, spoke on building competitive portfolios for the modern labour market.

A lecturer in the department, Dr. Yinka Egbokare, was also present to monitor the sessions. The programme ended with students expressing satisfaction as they received hands-on guidance designed to prepare them for industry demands even before graduation.

The Department of History Male football team made a dramatic comeback on Tuesday, 4th of November as it played a 2-2 draw with the Communication and Language Arts in the final match of the group stage of the Dean's cup competition. The match started around 11 AM at the SU pitch with an opening whistle where CLA took the lead early after 2 consecutive goals from Josh in the first half. However, just few minutes before half time, History scored their fist goal.  A few minutes into second half, History equalizes bringing the score to 2:2 where it remained a draw till the final whistle.  Speaking after the match, Popoola Joshua, CLA's coach praised his team, "You all did great on the field. History came with their best and we proved we were capable of them. Well done, guys"  In a week, both teams will return again to the field where the best will eventually be crowned. The match is played by all departments in the Faculty of Arts for the Dean's Cup.

Excitement and Elegance Fill the Air as UI Holds 2025 Convocation

For the first time in the semester, students were unbothered about lectures and tests and only spoke about the 77th convocation ceremony held from the 11th to the 15th of November 2025.  On the first day, all roads led to the International Conference Center (ICC) close to the University's second gate. Graduands were seen in their flowing blue gowns and high caps. You could spot a graduate with their smiley faces and exquisite dresses. Even under the sun, the males wore suits, and the females were not without makeup, luxurious wigs, and braids, telling us their days at UI were finally over. Governor Adeleke Joins New Political Party

  The Osun state governor, Governor Ademola Adeleke has joined the Accord Party on December 9, 2025 where he emerged as the partys flagbearer ahead of the partys governorship primary election. This was made known in a letter by the governor Adeleke.  Recall that Govenor Adeleke was before a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he was elected as the governor of Osun State. However, he has now left PDP for PP.  According to Adeleke in his speech as a flagbearer, " Since joining the party, I have been inspired by its phiolosophy." He empasized the welfare of the people as the hart of leadership and that the primary purpose of government is the wellbeing of the people.  Adeleke also spoke about his past leadership under PDP where he claimed to have prioritised th welfare of the people from workers to the entire citizens.
